What is Affiliate Marketing?

Standard

The decade of the 90s were responsible for this beautiful and big technology called The World Wide Web also known as the internet, the web, the vast digital ocean of information on our finger tips. With new media and technology, companies found a new opportunity of making use of the millions of websites they visit every day and to market their products and services.

Since advancements were made, after the early forms of online advertising, more accountable forms of online advertising such as affiliate marketing were formed.

I recently had the opportunity to work on an affiliate marketing training course website, which you can see here.  It was an honor to work on that site, and there is also a great promotional video you can watch on the YouTube Channel.

I don’t mention the name because that’s not the point of today’s update.  If you want the info, you can click the links yourself.  Today, I dive into just what is affiliate marketing?

So What Exactly is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is about relationships between three parties:

  • Advertiser:

A company selling the products, such as airline tickets, electronics, car parts or clothing is an “Advertiser”. An advertiser can also be a company of insurance selling policies. If you are ready to pay other people to help you promote and sell your business, you are an adviser.

Publisher:

A company or an individual that promotes an Advertiser’s products is a Publisher. A Publisher also offers service in exchange for earning a commission. There is an agreement between the Advertiser and the Publisher and after they contractually agree, the Advertiser provides the publisher with creative, in form of banners, links or text ads with a publisher that the publisher adds into their website.

Consumer:

The affiliate relationship triangle is complete with the final component which is the “Consumer”. The one who finally sees the ad and then takes an action is the consumer. He takes an action by either clicking on the link or by submitting information in a form. It takes the Consumer to the publisher’s website to the advertisers to complete the action, which can be called a “Conversion”

Why Affiliate Marketing Works well on blogs?

There are a few reasons Affiliate marketing can be profitable in this medium. One of the biggest reasons is that when there is a relationship of trust between the readership and the publisher, the affiliate marketing seems to work best. The readers will follow the recommendations of the bloggers when this trust depends and sometimes it can also be negative with affiliate marketing as the wrong product can be promoted and trust can be broken.

Easy Money?

Affiliate marketing can be amazingly profitable, it is also important to know that affiliate marketing is not easy money. It lies upon numerous factors and most people make it very little. Some of the factors are:

  • Finding the best quality products
  • Having a readership that is in the mood of buying and try developing its trust.
  • Finding products that are relevant.
  • Increase in traffic can be very helpful.
  • Building trust is important
  • Being able to write good sales copy is very important in order to attract the reader’s attention.

There are also a few risks which can be developed if you push too hard to promote a low quality product or an irrelevant product, you may lose readers and damage the reputation and brand. Note that Affiliate marketing does not work on all blogs.

The importance of SEO in Internet Marketing

Standard

So, after you build your website, you have to think about how you are going to get traffic to the site, right?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of structuring a web page in a way that it is found and indexed by search engines in an effective manner.

Since advertising is very important in operating a business therefore you need to understand the importance of SEO that without it, grabbing new customers and gaining more market share will quite be impossible.

Well known search engines such as Google rank websites according to complex algorithms which are designed to determine which websites are most relevant for particular search terms. Therefore taking the time and effort to optimize your website for relevant search terms may result in you being rewarded with high search engine rankings for these terms. This is important because most Internet users rely heavily on these rankings. It is not uncommon for Internet users to only review the first few results when they search for a particular term. This means if your website ranks high enough to appear on the first page of the search results you will likely enjoy increased website traffic. However, if your website doesn’t make it to the first page or even the second page, it is unlikely you will receive a great deal of website traffic from visitors who use search engines.

Now that you are aware of the importance of search engine rankings you must be wondering how it can be achieved. The easiest way to optimize search engines is to hire a professional to do this piece of work for you. Since SEO is too complicated for every single person to understand and with continuous upgrading and changes being made to it, it’s quite difficult for those who are not SEO specialist to keep up with it. Many people who optimize their own websites have difficulty in keeping up with their competitors who have hired an SEO specialist to do the job for them.  On page is very important.

The algorithms used by search engines can be rather complex and include a number of different factors. Some of the common factors in the equation include keyword density, titles, inbound links, website traffic and content.  You can refer to Tim Schmidt, a local Fort Lauderdale SEO expert for more insider tips.  It’s where we get all our latest information and top notch secrets.

Keyword density refers to the number of times a keyword is used in the content of your website. The theory behind this concept is that website which uses a keyword often are most relevant to that website; however, using the keyword repeatedly may result in penalties to the website if the search engine feels that the keywords are not being used appropriately.

Inbound links are also used by some search engines to rank websites. Inbound links refer to links on other websites which point to your website. In evaluating the worth of these inbound links, some search engines consider the rank of the website providing the link to your website. This means you should ensure the website providing inbound links to your website are high ranking websites to receive the most benefit from these links. Overall SEO is quite beneficial for your website or business if you want to remain successfully in the business.

Tips for creating a top-notch website

Standard

Since the beginning of the 21st Century we could see how the web has become more and more integrated into people’s lives. Due to this assimilation the technology of the web has also moved along. There have been many important changes in the way people access the web and this has now significantly changed how the sites are now designed.

When undergoing web designing there are certain rules to keep in mind to make your web site stand out from others. There may be a hundred more websites just a click away from the user, but to make sure you capture the user, that should be the main target.

And you can achieve this target by following four simple steps:

  1. Keep Everything Simple:

Many users who are new to the world of internet find it hard to locate a certain thing on the website. Why? Because most of the websites are stuffed with irrelevant pieces of information and too many brand advertisements. This leads to mere frustration among the users. So first step should be to focus on the important elements of a website and keep your website clutter free; focusing on those elements that deliver the most usefulness and that can be done by figuring out what content attracts people mainly to the site.

  1. Easy To Read Text:

Clearly written text is very important. Text is basically written to provide information on certain things or in the shape of an answer to a question. There are a few examples that you can hold on to;

  • Don’t Use Tiny Font: using tiny fonts make it difficult to read, so it’s better not to make the readers squint. If you don’t want people to deviate from your website you should make sure the font and text is comfortably readable.
  • Limit Your Color Scheme: Though a lot of colors may look attractive but you definitely don’t want your website to look like a rainbow. Following the rule number 1 of simplicity, it’s better if you stick to a few colors.
  1. Visual Hierarchy:

This term is often used in when talking of web designing. It means that elements should be represented or arranged in a way that they imply importance. Visual Hierarchy influences the order in which the human eye perceives what it sees. For example, Visual Hierarchy tells us that eyes move from top to bottom and mostly from left to right. So it’s better to locate the most important content of the site on the area where people tend to look more often.

  1. Desired Content Displayed As A Header:

Normally people don’t like scrolling down on the website page so it’s better to put the desired content as a header for example; put the ‘sign up now’ button in a larger font and in an attractive color box to make it instantly noticeable, because that’s what you wanted, more and more people signing up on your site. This way your site visitors will enjoy using the website just because of its simplicity!
